Our Story

Since around 2013, a Kitsutsuki root canal handpiece project started with Tokyo Medical and Dental University (President Dr. Takashi Ohyama at the time) as a medical-engineering collaboration, forming a partnership between academia and industry. Thereafter, Kitsutsuki contra was developed with Tsurumi University’s Faculty of Dentistry (University President Dr. Takashi Ohyama at the time) and insights from Professor Noriyasu Hosoya, a renowned expert in endodontics.
Inspired by Dr. Suzuki and Neutstadt Japan’s vision—"Aim to contribute to the development of dental care around the world by bringing together the wisdom of Japanese dentists!"—DXDMED was founded on the "Device By Doctor" concept to bring Japan’s innovative medical devices to the world.
Japan’s 8020 Campaign launched in 1989 by the Ministry of Health and Welfare (now the Ministry of Health, Labour and Welfare), is an initiative encouraging individuals to maintain at least 20 of their natural teeth by the age of 80, a Japanese average life expectancy around 1989. This was based on research showing that retaining more teeth significantly improves overall digestion, health, and quality of life.
